In early 2001 Nigel was approached by the ever popular TV series Scrapheap Challenge. They wanted a 'monster truck' expert to head a team and help build a monster truck out of scrap. Nigel flew to LA in the April to begin filming where temperatures were in the high 30's! His friends, Bob Chandler and Jim Kramer, were also flown out - Bob as a judge on the show, and Jim as a consultant.
Whilst facing stiff competition from the other contestants, Nigel and his team know as 'The Mulewrights' (an American team of Millwrights) laboured long and hard to produce a monster machine that whilst lacking any form of rear suspension, still powered Nigel at the wheel to victory!
