Team BIGFOOT Racing attended a wet and windy Truckfest at the East of England Showground in Peterborough during the bank holiday weekend. Running their incredibly popular Lucas Oil body for the second year, the team were also very proud to be wearing the Mac Tools logo at a competitive event for the first time.
It was clear from the very outset that driver Nigel Morris planned on giving both his newest and one of his most loyal sponsors a dream start to the season. In a revised format, the Truckfest event featured a single car crush session on each day, with the crowd reaction deciding the winner on each day, and the two days totals deciding the event winners. Each truck would perform 4 car crushes per day in a single "super jump" session.
Lucas Oils BIGFOOT, put on a dominant performance from the very first jump, performing a massive sky wheelie, jump two saw a wild landing for Nigel, needing him to make a huge save as BIGFOOT bounced up onto the two left wheels for over 100 feet!! Jump three went much more to plan and number four was the clincher with BIGFOOT clearing all 6 cars in a single leap.
When the audience was called on to cheer for their favourite truck, BIGFOOT was the clear winner!!! So day one was in the bag, BIGFOOT had seen off the challenge and driver Nigel had achieved his goal. Lucas Oils continued sponsorship (now in its 9th year) was rewarded with another win. And he also rewarded the team’s newest sponsor Mac Tools, with a win on the first day of the first season of supporting Team BIGFOOT Racing.
Day 2 saw a distinct change in the weather, sadly not for the best. Cooler temperatures and cloudy skies threatened rain throughout the day, and sadly just as jump time was drawing near the rain finally came down. The effect of this rain was to dampen the grassy arena and reduce grip, both in the acceleration area and on the cars themselves.
As winner of the first days challenge, BIGFOOT was able to choose to jump last. Driver Nigel said "the advantage of this is I will know what sort of jumps have gone before, and I will know what I have to do to win". The plan to jump after his competitors was a good one as despite the bad conditions, many of the jumps were bigger than in the Sunday sessions.
Having seen what had gone before, it was left to Nigel and the Lucas Oils BIGFOOT truck to step up his game and take the win. The first of the four chances did not go to plan, as the truck came up short landing on the cars. Jump two was much better with a nice sky wheelie, leading into jump three, where once again Nigel had a rough ride with a harsh landing. This lead to a neat summery, one more try, one jump, one chance to take the win.
With over ten years experience driving monster trucks and with more than 8 of those at the wheel of BIGFOOT Nigel knew what was needed, and as usual he delivered for the fans with a massive final jump, not only clearing the cars, but doing it by more than three car lengths!!
Check back soon to see where Lucas Oil Bigfoot will be appearing next, and also please check out our sponsors, both old and new, as these guys make it possible for us to do what we do!! http://www.lucasoil.co.uk/ http://www.mactools.co.uk/
