HOP FARM, Paddock Wood, Kent - Sat 20th and Sun 21st August

LA Supertrux Limited is delighted to announce a return to winning ways for its Bigfoot17 Monster Truck racing team.

Driver Nigel Morris stood on the top step of the podium on Saturday and Sunday clinching both rounds 7 and 8 of the European Monster Truck Championship. In a season that was initially plagued with gearbox reliability issues and plain bad luck, Nigel was delighted to be able to bring the big blue Ford back to the top step of the podium.

Nigel said that the two first place finishes were “very welcome as I am now just 100 points behind the leader, and with 400 points on offer in the final 4 four rounds of the European Monster Truck Racing Championship the title chase is suddenly wide open again.”

(A more detailed write up will be posted after rounds 9 & 10 which are this coming weekend!)

2nd August 2005

Orsett Showground – Rounds 5 & 6 Sat 16th & Sun 17th July

After storming to a racing win and 100 valuable points at round 4 in Herts, I have to admit that the Bigfoot 17 team thought all of the early seasons troubles were behind us – they were not!

Without being too technical, we have discovered what we believe has been causing our gearbox failures. We have been correcting this problem since Herts each time we change over a gearbox.

For Round 5 in Orsett we had in the last of the old style gearboxes. Hindsight says we should have changed it over – but it was working so well!

So, Round 5, Orsett Essex.

A good qualifying round with no real problems in the turn left us in a good position for racing. Having won our first race, the fun began in race two when second gear went missing! Not too much of a problem as the big Ford motor can easily handle a one to three shift. But in the time it took me to realise second was not there it was enough to loose the race.

As fortune would have it race director Graham Lunn had me straight back out again.

This time knowing second was not there I shifted straight to third just off the start line.

Bigfoot loved it and was pulling hard, I think we made it to the turn first, but as I laid into the throttle for the home run the rpm’s went off the clock! Third gear had gone and our race was over.

Paul, Matt & I had a new gearbox fitted in time for freestyle and I think a little of my frustration must have come out as we scored a maximum 40 points and took the win!

Day Two Round 6

I was ready for racing, oh boy was I ever ready!

Three races and three wins, Slingshot, Blown Thunder and I think Monstrous had all fallen. Bigfoot 17 was running Awesome! I could feel that we had a chance at another 100 point maximum. But, alas again lady luck just does not ride with us in 2005. During a routine inspection of Bigfoot between races Matt discovered a terminal crack in the front right wheel hub and our day was over! We had a spare on the trailer but the time needed to swap the parts saw us out. Zero points again!

If anyone can sell me a pot of good luck…I am interested!

Round 3 & 4 - Herts Showground 25th/26th June ‘05

Brilliant Sunshine and an excellent track layout greeted the Bigfoot team at Herts Showground for rounds 3 and 4 of the ProMT European Championships.

During an excellent qualifying run during which Nigel Morris finally mastered this seasons much tighter hair pin turns by quite surprisingly using a ‘full throttle power sliding technique’, No.17 posted an excellent qualifying time. Unfortunately for the team just 20 yards past the finish line Bigfoot once again lost all drive. This time Kenny and the Boys from STA decided that a site visit was required to see exactly what the problem was with 17’s gearbox. Whilst 17 was out for the day excellent work carried out by Kenny, Nigel and Paul meant that 17 had its problems diagnosed and repairs completed in time for Freestyle late Saturday afternoon.

Unfortunately No.17 decided that now was the perfect time to develop an ignition problem and flatly refused to start. After much head scratching a new set of spark plugs were fitted and 17 burst back into life.

Sunday morning saw Bigfoot Chief Mechanic Paul Parsons checking and double-checking everything on the truck; surely today they would score some points!

A good qualifying time (3rd fastest) saw Nigel and Bigfoot 17 in a good position for the early rounds of racing. After three good races it seemed at last the team’s gearbox worries were behind them. By late afternoon Bigfoot had worked it’s way through to the finals and was facing last years ‘Rookie of the Year’ driver Karl Swallow. But Bigfoot was hungry for points and driver Nigel Morris showed no mercy when exiting the final turn to come from one truck length from behind Karl to take the win by just 1/100th second!!

During the post race interview Nigel said “I always knew the truck could do it – when Bigfoot is running right she is always going to be in the hunt for points!”

1st June 2005

Round 1 & 2 - Thame Showground 29th/30th May ‘05

The first 2 rounds of ProMT Racing definitely did not go to plan for the Bigfoot 17 team. With the new engine and suspension settings they were hopeful of good results. As it turned out lady luck had decided that this May Bank Holiday was going to be one the Bigfoot Team would remember for all the wrong reasons!

Bigfoot’s first qualifying run aptly demonstrated to the team that a great deal of work was needed to cut some bite back into their newly shaved tyres as driver Nigel Morris fought for grip in a hair pin turn, eventually posting the second slowest time of the day.

Things were to go from bad to worse when during the first round of racing on Saturday No.17 lost all drive to the wheels in what was later discovered to be a massive gearbox failure. When installing the spare gearbox additional problems were found requiring an overnight trip to Bigfoot gearbox Sponsors STA Automatics of Aylesbury for some emergency repairs. Unfortunately it was not to be during Sundays qualifying run Bigfoot developed a driveline problem. So for the first two rounds of ProMT racing Bigfoot failed to Score.

2004 News

2004 Championship Summary

The 2004 seasons would have to be described as an eventful one, with highs and lows, and to be honest mare then its fair share of laughs.

Coming into 2004 the BIGFOOT #17 racing team had high hopes of retaining the PROMT points racing championship. The winter had seen allot of work by the team in preparing BIGFOOT, but also in creating the new HULK monster truck fro crew chief Drew Thornton to race in the series. Hulk was supposed to have been just a new chassis for the original truck. In the end all that was used from the old truck was the seat and the engine.

With new tracks, and new trucks to race no predictions were entered into, even when pressed at the early events by the many TV crews encountered. It seemed that with a couple of events in the bag that BIGFOOT would be in prime position to mount a campaign to retain its title.

But there is a saying about chickens and eggs. Ian Batey in the new Lil Devil truck had clearly not read the approved BIGFOOT script, and proceeded to stomp home to many wins, placing immense pressure on the BIGFOOT points lead.

And then it began. We all know that racing is racing, and nothing is ever certain, but this little lot really was rough luck. After a mid season rebuild of the shock, BIGFOOT #17 just would not handle right. On one setting the ride was ridiculously hard and on another way, way too soft.

And to make matters worse, the handling problems were breaking parts. One limited slip differential and two (on separate occasions) planetary gear sets later and the championship was wide open. With just 65 points covering the first three places. With the ever intensifying title chase now was possible the worst time for BIGFOOT founders Bob & Marylin Chandler to fly in to see #17 in action.

Its always a pleasure to chat with the Chandlers, but in 2004 the championship was all action and #17 driver Nigel Morris clearly decided to make an impression on the visiting American founding fathers. Being first to run of all the truck in qualifying, Nigel put the pedal to the metal and as it turned out the truck on the trailer.

Just when it couldn't get any worse, the finish line car jump, comprising 5 cars (which Nigel over jumped by possibly another 6 cars) was a step too far for the ill handling #17, which broke off the right front wheel on landing. It was the fastest time of the night, but that was of little use with #17 on the trailer and everyone except #17 scoring points.

In the remaining rounds BIGFOOT and Lil Devil would trade wins and second places, constantly taking and retaking the points lead from each other. By now it was a two horse race, a race only one could win. The final event of the 2004 season was the Weston Beach Race. A magnificent motor sports spectacular held on the west coast each October.

Racing on sand was new for everyone, and they seemed to be liking it allot. What a weekend. In the heat races, Ian Batey blew up the engine in Lil Devil while racing BIGFOOT. With no chance of repair the title would go to BIGFOOT, providing that it crossed the starting line of the final race. Alas this was not to be , as racing on the Saturday was cut short by an incoming tide.

Here at BIGFOOT its not all about winning, for us a season fought hard and run well is the most important thing. Congratulations are due, and go to the Lil Devil team, but be advised, while we like to take part in a great championship race we like winning them even more.

Roll on 2005, BIGFOOT #17 will be ready!!

21st & 22nd August 2004

Rounds Seven and Eight of the European Monster Truck Racing Championship.

Wow!!

The Hop Farm was a new venue for the championship this year, but I can tell you for sure we will go back next year. Friendly staff, great facilities, and sunshine!!
Rounds six and seven have to be the closest yet in European PROMT racing history. Not just between the hard charges at the top of the table, but right through the field.

As we have received a number of questions relating to our event format recently please let me explain how we run things in Europe. Just like in the US each truck gets to run over the course one at a time to set a qualifying time. These times are used to sort the first round race pairings. Then and here is where we differ from the US we run each truck in the field against every other truck there. We award 3 points for a win and one for a loss. When all the trucks have run each other we tally up the points to provide a table. We then run the trucks according to their points tally for the championship points paying races. So the two trucks with the most points will race for first and second place, all the way through the whole field.
Why do we do it this way? Because we have a smaller field of trucks, and we want to give the fans a larger number of races than the traditional knock out format will allow.

So round seven racing.
As you can see from the tables, just fifteen points were separating Lil Devil and BIGFOOT #17 coming into this race, so it was tight at the top!
Slingshot driver Karl Swallow lined up for his first ever qualifying run as part of a points paying event, and set a very respectable if somewhat cautious time. Swampthing set fastest time. The first round of racing saw some incredible drops in elapsed time with Lil Devil dropping his time by nearly 5 seconds. Close is the only word to describe the times, but EX…CI…..TING!!! is the only way to the ACTION!
With races being decided by tenths of a second, it is clear that the whole of the European PROMT field are raising their game. For example the slowest race in round six was actually nearly two seconds faster than the best time set during the whole of the 2003 season!! Game on!

When the points had been tallied following the heat races it was BIGFOOT #17 and Lil Devil in the final, with Thunderfoot and Hulk running off for third and fourth spot and Slingshot with Swampy sorting out fifth and sixth places. The finals are run in ascending order so it was Swampy and Slingshot up first. Driver Tony Dixon was unable to start Swampy, the problem was later diagnosed as a crank trigger issue. This meant that Karl Swallow in Slingshot had a by run into a points paying position, and all this at his first competitive event. Well-done Karl. From the whole MTR Promotions team. Thunderfoot and Hulk ran for third and fourth places. This race was MUCH closer that the formbook would have suggested. Tim in Thunderfoot had the horsepower advantage, but Drew in Hulk had the 180-degree turn at the top of the course nailed all day. So it was all going to be won and lost on the turn, and that was exactly how it was. Thunderfoot shot off from the start and made it to the corner first, but Tim just could not get the truck to turn tight enough and Drew caught up with a stunningly tight turn. But Tim kept his cool and used the undoubted horsepower of Thunderfoot to blast home to victory. Drew deserves respect for keeping Tim honest with 500 fewer horsepower.

And so to the final race of the day, and what drama we had. The rivalry between BIGFOOT and Lil Devil is the stuff of ledged. Rarely does more that a second separate these two in qualifying, and it's down to tenths of a second in racing. Ian had lane choice due to his having one more win in the heats, but chose to allow starting marshal Ray Neilson to pick which lane he ran in. As the trucks drew to the line BIGFOOT seemed unable to get lined up on the first cars to driver Nigel Morris's satisfaction, taking three shunts, until Ray Neilson had had enough and called him in and told him to stay put. Lights go green, and they're off, both trucks attacking the first dirt ramp and onto the first set of cars. Lil devil ahead by a whisker as they reach the turn. BIGFOOT hard on the gas early, too early and the truck washes out into a big power slide. Had Nigel had the time to look over to Ian's lane he would have seen that Ian had experienced a steering problem and hit the turn markers, disqualifying him from the race. As it was Nigel kept his foot in the throttle in BIGFOOT and completely missed the last set of cars, also disqualifying him from the race!! So both trucks were out. With no other way to decide the winner it was decided by the clerk of the course to re-run the final race.

The crowd were going crazy, whipped into frenzy by expert commentator Barry Clayson, as the trucks once again drew up to the line. Mr starter, Ray Neilson was having no nonsense this time and was emphatic about staging the trucks. Once again the lights go green and both trucks blast away. Again both Ian and Nigel are flat footing their trucks into the top turn, this time its Lil Devil that gets there first, but only by a tiny margin. BIGFOOT make a text book turn and is back on the gas first, powering home and making sure he hits the crush cars on the way to the finish line. Lady luck had played a cruel trick on Lil Devil though, as it turned out that he had ruptured a steering hose in the first race when hitting the course marker. The resulting loss of fluid made it impossible for Ian to straighten the truck up after the turn, again causing him to hit a course marker.

In the freestyle event Ian continued his domination of this format with a series of huge jumps. Not event a blistering doughnut from Nigel in BIGFOOT or a huge power slide from Thunderfoot was enough to sway the crowd. Lil Devil the winner.

Round eight racing

So how could we have known that the racing and the crowd could get better than it was on Saturday?? We had no idea, but it did!
Qualifying saw some of the most impressive driving I for one have been whiteness to. Karl in Slingshot again took it steady posting a solid 30-second run. Next out was Hulk who bettered his Saturday time by nearly a full second. BIGFOOT #17 then upped the standard with a 19 second run full 3 seconds faster than the previous day. Tim Barks in Thunderfoot put on his A game and posted a 18-90 second run, to be fastest so far. But then came Lil Devil. Not known for setting fast times in qualifying, Ian stunned all in attendance, with a blistering run, taking Lil Devil onto two wheels in the turn and blasting fully four car lengths past the final set of cars with an amazing time of 18 seconds dead!

The heats once again saw some intense racing, but it was BIGFOOT #17 that had a clean sheet at the end of the heats. Lil Devil was once again to meet him in the final.
Thunderfoot was assured of a place in the race for third and fourth, but his opponent was to be decided by a race off between Hulk and Slingshot.
Drew in Hulk was "not so quietly" confident before the race, stating that he was sure it would be him racing Tim for third. Apparently he forgot to tell Karl the plan, as Karl in Slingshot flat out drove the vastly more experienced Drew to take a surprise, but well worthy win. But when up against Thunderfoot in the battle for third and fourth it was to be a different story. Tim took no prisoners and used his experience and greater horsepower to romp home.

So it was final time again, and good friends and old rivals Ian and Nigel once again pulled to the line. You could cut the atmosphere with a knife, and the tension was palpable as both drivers revved their engines to be sure they were ready for action. Starter Ray Neilson was again in a no nonsense mood as he determinedly called each truck into stage. The huge crowd was going crazy screaming for their favourite truck orchestrated by the ever-present Barry Clayson. Red lights. Yellow, then green and we're racing! All who witnessed the race in person say it was too close to call all the way down the first sets of cars and into the turn. At the turn both trucks rounded at exactly the same moment, but Ian in Lil Devil was back on the power first causing him to have to fight to get the truck back onto all four wheels. Nigel in BIGFOOT #17 had lost a few yards in the turn, but as starter Ray Neilson said afterwards "from the turn to the finish line BIGFOOT was all over Lil Devil like a bad rash". The win went to Lil Devil by the smallest margin of the weekend, just under a tenth of a second! With an amazing elapsed time of just 16.20 seconds!

Freestyle was once again the Lil Devil show with supporting cast. Ian taking the truck past even his own high standards when it comes to big air. If he ever learns to do another trick, he will be ready for the American market!! Drew In the Hulk decided to finish off a less than startling weekend by putting the truck on its roof after just 37 seconds of his freestyle run.

Like I said at the beginning WOW!!

Round Six of the European Monster Truck Racing Championship.

Wow! Can it get any better than this?
How close would you like the points to be with just two events to go??

Skegness, is now not a track that holds fond memories for the BIGFOOT #17 team. With Tim Barks and Thunderfoot yet again a no show, team BIGFOOT could have been excused for thinking that some of the pressure had been lifted on their performance for this round of the PROMT Championship. Not so!!

Driver Nigel Morris struggled with the truck all day long, suffering with both shock, and traction problems on the tarmac-racing surface.
Sensing the 2003 champ was in trouble; Lil devil, Swamp Thing and even team truck Hulk went into overdrive. Lil devil made it a clean sweep in the heats running straight to the final without dropping as single race. The less than charitable members of the MTR Promotions team commented that it was strange that as Ian had had trouble all year with the turning courses. Skegness was a straight-line course!!

Drew Thornton who if he has had any luck at all this year it has been bad luck, finally showed what he can do if the equipment will let him. Running the newly re-vamped Hulk into second place on the day via a closely fought fight with Lil Devil in the final race of the day.

Tony in Swamp Thing, just plain drove the wheels off it in the race with BIGFOOT #17 for the lower order points, flat footing to a good win. Only later in the day did it become clear that BIGFOOT had suffered a rear differential failure. No excuses, but with the points this close, who knows what will happen next week at Paddock Wood in Kent???

Rounds Four and Five of the European Monster Truck Racing Championship.

Back to TIR Prince four round four of the European PROMT Racing Championship and its all action from the ever-improving Euro monster trucks.
Tim Barks, fresh from a home win only weeks before came to this event as hot favourite. His new tyres working so very well on the longish grass of the excellent TIR Prince venue. The MTR Promotions team, headed by Ian Batey had once again laid out a long but very exciting track with a twist. Instead of his favoured J shape track builder Ian had installed a novel lollypop shaped course. Which has the drivers leaving the start line to encounter a speed bump, then a set of 6 cars (long for Europe) and on to a 180-degree turn at the top of the course, and then back over the same cars for the return trip.

This meant that the turn at the top was critical to racing success. The qualifying, and heat races had set up a most intriguing final between last weeks winner Tim in Thunderfoot and Nigel in BIGFOOT #17, but their race had to wait until the third and fourth positions had been decided.
This saw Ian Batey and Tony Dixon racing for pride and valuable championship points. Tony was away first and over the cars in a flail of broken glass and metal, so Swamp Thing made it to the turn first, but for once it was wild man Ian Batey who made the better turn and as both trucks put the hammer down it was Lil Devil driver Ian who got his truck straight first and crossed the line for the win.

As mentioned previously the final race of the day would be between archrivals and great friends Nigel Morris and Tim barks. These two drivers and trucks are so evenly matched that it is always hard to call a winner in advance, but with Tim's win the week before he had to be pre race favourite. Only digital timing equipment could have separated the two trucks at the first turn, it really was that close, but for once Nigel in BIGFOOT got a better turn than Tim and powered home for an important race win.

Swafham is a new venue to this years racing tour. Being what the Americans would call a motor speedway, it offers a safe and spectacular viewing experience for the hordes of fans, which now follow the European Championship to every venue.

Slightly tighter for space that the very enjoyable TIR Prince Swafham once again utilised Ian Batey's patented lollypop course. Half of each racing course was on the black top of the motor racing track and the return trip and corner were on grass. This made truck set up all the harder. Perhaps too hard for some as Nigel in BIGFOOT #17 succumbed to a blown planetary gear set in only the first round of racing.
None of the other drivers or trucks seemed to find a problem with a lack, nor excess of traction, which is suspected to have been the big blue trucks downfall.

The qualifying and heats had once again sorted the trucks into their racing order, and the race for third and fourth was to be between Swamp Thing and Hulk. Hulk making somewhat of a comeback after recent supercharger hassles. It was close at the turn, but perhaps Drew lack of recent rack seat time caused him to miss judge the turn handing Tony an easy third place position.

The final for a second event in a row was full of intrigue. Tim and Thunderfoot against the man he credits as his instructor in the art of monster truck driving Ian Batey. So we had pupil vs. master, on the start line side by side for the first time ever in a racing final.
Perhaps it was race nerves, or the thought of racing his tutor, but Tim just missed making a killer turn with a little too much power a little too soon, Ian's experience came to the fore as he kept his composure and powered Lil Devil home for its first (but surely not last) win of the year.

Rounds Two and Three of the European Monster Truck Racing Championship.

So the weather has played havoc with the proposed PROMT schedule, add to this some significant no-shows from truck owners and the 2004 PROMT schedule has had some changes forced upon it in the first quarter of 2004

The MTR Promotions crew were in for a surprise on arrival in Cork in Southern Ireland as two of the PROMT championship trucks, Blown Thunder and Thunderfoot had opted not to make the trip across the water. It was there loss as the MTR Promotions team had built an exceptional track in a wonderful setting in the exceptional grounds of the Mill Street facility.
Qualifying saw Ian Batey in the much-changed Lil Devil truck take fastest time over BIGFOOT, Swamp Thing and Hulk. Driver Ian signalling his intent to be on the pace as soon as possible after a few years out of the drivers seat.
Due to reduced numbers of trucks the racing format was changed, and saw each truck race each other two times, scoring three points for a win and a single point for a loss. At the interval the totals were tallied up and the two trucks with the most points raced for first and second, with the two lower scoring trucks in a race for third and fourth.

And what racing it was, in the final Lil Devil lined up against the ever-present BIGFOOT #17 in what is fast becoming the grudge race of the season, as good friends and work collegues Ian and Nigel are head to head for an event win yet again. Ian gets Lil Devil off the line better and has a clear lead over the first set of cars, but BIGFOOT is closing as they reach the turn. Its Nigel at the wheel of BIGFOOT which makes the cleaner turn, and lays into the big Ford power plant to surge over the line for the win.
The run off for third and fourth is cut short when Swamp thing loses a torque converter on the line, handing drew Thornton an easy if unrewarding win.

The second Irish round was cancelled due to promoter issues, and was rendered a car crush display and not a PROMT racing round.
Unfortunately the venue for round three of the Irish tour had to be changed at the last moment and the revised venue was deemed by the MTR Promotions team and MTRAE directors Nigel, Ian & Tony as not fit for racing. So this event also had to be rescheduled as a gala event only… All in all, a very frustrating time was had in the Emerald Isle.

Not the case with the excellent TIR Prince venue. Back for a third year and now on out fourth visit this venue just gets better and better. With the size and facilities required for top-flight monster truck racing, it's a venue that staff and driver alike all look forward to visiting. And this time even the sun was shinning. Ian Batey (assisted by his sons, Billy and Martin) and the MTR Promotions crew put together one of the best tracks yet seen in the UK. A long and demanding J shape course on a perfect surface with quick ramps and a long run into the 180-degree turn.
Thunderfoot's Tim barks had abandoned his belief in shaved tyres turning up with a new set with considerable amounts of tread on them. Tim had been at them with the tyre cutting iron, but more to shape the tread than to remove it. It certainly seemed to help in the damp conditions, especially in the turns where Tim showed a clean pair of heels to a slithering BIGFOOT (on fully shaved tyres) in the final race of the day.

BIGFOOT 17 attended the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, and caused a sensation with the 70,000 strong Welsh home crowd on behalf of Future West Promotions, who requested that BIGFOOT 17 attend with the press launch of their new indoor motocross series which is visiting the Millennium Stadium for the first time ever. World motorcycle long jump record holder, Jason Rennie, produced a series of spectacular jumps over BIGFOOT to amazed gasps from the assembled members of the press. Later in the day BIGFOOT was allowed to drive through the access tunnel and put its front wheels just on the edge of the hallowed Welsh turf. BIGFOOT driver Nigel Morris and his team are looking forward to going back to Cardiff on the 22nd of November when BIGFOOT 17 will be making a special guest appearance during Future West Promotions indoor motocross event.

This show, which covered 3 days in total, was the first event held by Monster Truck Racing Promotions. This was a full on Monster Truck Racing Event, with some Monster Truck Freestyle thrown in for good measure, making sure the crowds got a brilliant show, one we hope they will remember for a long time. Check out the MTR Promotions website - www.mtrpromotions.co.uk to see a write up of the weekend , some photos & videos clips, along with the Point Standings for the Monster Truck Racing Championship (guess who's currently leading).

Another weekend another show for BIGFOOT & stable mate Wild Child. This time they were at a steam engine event in Enfield, London, UK performing a car crush and car jumping show at was has to be said very limited space. It gave the crowds a taster of what will be happening very soon there when the Monster Truck racing takes place later this year at the same venue, though using the whole area the location has to offer, rather than just a piece of it.

Video footage will be available very soon in the Movie section, for now you folks will have to make do with some photos of BIGFOOT jumping on Saturday Afternoon.

BIGFOOT #17 was on the rampage this weekend in Driffield, North Yorkshire. Performing as part of a Monster Spectacular with stable mate WILD CHILD, BIGFOOT put on a show "the likes of which has never before been seen in the UK" said commentator and promoter Russ Harman.

Britain's public television station the BBC came down to shoot some footage of the action, with the images of BIGFOOT's car jumping making the evenings news section.

The Yorkshire Trucking Spectacular is a heavy commercial vehicle event that has for years featured Monster Trucks as its special arena guests. Wild Child and BIGFOOT are the latest in a long line of monster attractions. "Awesome monster action" were the words used by Russ when BIGFOOT jumped clean over three cars on the Friday night." "Awesome " was all he could say on the Sunday afternoon when a broken throttle cable meant that Wild Child driver Drew Thornton was left with no option but sit it out, when Wild Child nosed dived into the cars. (See video footage of this here) Drew was left hanging for what must have seemed like an eternity when Wild Child stood on its front grill for four or five seconds before slamming back down, thankfully onto it's wheels!

With Wild Child sidelined it was left to BIGFOOT #17 driver Nigel Morris to entertain the crowds, and he did not shy away from his duty. Making a series of jumps and demo runs BIGFOOT had the fans on their feet with a performance unlike anything seen in the UK before, culminating in a car jump over 5 cars in what has to be admitted was a small arena.

You can see footage of BIGFOOT jumping cars in the Movie Section of this site.

BIGFOOT #17 made its public debut at the Live Promotions Truckfest event held in Peterborough at the East of England Showground in the UK on the 4th & 5th of May.

Live Promotions had heavily featured the debut of the new Euro BIGFOOT in all of its promotional material in recognition of the significance of the event. For the first time Europe has it's very own version of the Monster Truck legend that is BIGFOOT.

Sunday's show achieved record attendance at a Truckfest event topping 88,000 visitors. BIGFOOT #17 owner, builder and driver Nigel Morris and his L.A. Supertrux Ltd organisation supplied all of the monster trucks for the two-day event, with former crew chief Drew Thornton taking the wheel in the Wild Child monster truck.

The weekend wasn't without incident however as BIGFOOT #17 split the case on the transmission on its first visit to the arena on Sunday. The LAS crew swung into action locating a replacement case and swapping all the trick BTE components over in time for the main event on the Monday.

The debut of BIGFOOT #17 marks a turning point in the history of monster trucks in Europe, meaning as it does that there is now a permanent representative of the Biggest name in monster trucks located on European soil. For event promoters and corporate sponsors alike there has never been a better time to use the marketing power of monster trucks, and in particular the BIGFOOT name.

The Euro BIGFOOT team would like to thank all of its sponsors for their assistance in making this ambitious project happen, and in particular Nigel wants to thank Bob Chandler for believing in him enough to trust him with the BIGFOOT brand in Europe.
